Artificial pearls are the imitation of pearls by means of the dyes containing the natural nacre which extract from the fish scales and extracts from mollusks. From fusible glasses (that is, “iridescent”) make hollow balls. On their internal surface by means of permanent glue put the special paste consisting from the silvery scales of small fishes of bleaks. Then cavities of balls fill with wax. Such technology gives to artificial pearls all properties of natural – shine and durability. In the XX-th century the different ways of pearl’s imitation began to apply – from nacreous pastes, celluloid, gelatin. Similarity of black pearls cut out from hematite, and pink – from coral. In cheap jewellery plastic is used, from it nacre, unfortunately, quickly “climbs down”.
